The soybean department of VNIIMK, organized in 1977, is an integrated scientific division that includes the laboratory of soybean breeding and seed growing, the laboratory of soybean genetics and immunity, and the laboratory of soybean management practice. Since 2011, the soybean department includes the laboratory of oil flax breeding.
The main tasks of the soybean department are:
- theresearches on breeding and genetics of soybean and oil flax;
- search and studying of new commercially valuable traits;
- the breeders and foundation seed growing of varieties included into the State Register;
- the improvement and development of effective methods of breeding.
The Department consists of 20 experts, among them a doctor of agricultural sciences, three candidates of biological sciences and three candidates of agricultural sciences.
